Ancestral Lineage Healing
I am Sonya Welch-Moring, a Black British Family Constellations practitioner, born in the UK but with roots in Guyana, South America. I am the founder of Ancestral Constellations, a centre for Diaspora Transgenerational Practice with its roots in indigenous healing practices.
After five years of family constellations training, I saw that there was a gap in therapeutic learning for Communities of Colour. In response I created a Modular Training Course that explores generational and ancestral healing rooted in indigenous traditions.
Now in its third year the Ancestral Constellations Modular Training is the leading programme for coaches, counsellors and other therapists and practitioners of colour. It is not just a place of learning, it is also a space and community to explore ‘transgenerational lives of colour.’
Approach & Values
Ancestral Constellations are a brief, solution focused, therapeutic and ancestral practice exploring the Transgenerational Lineage of Diaspora families of colour. If we widen the approach to include a community perspective that includes ‘those who have gone before us’, we can view ancestral linage as inter-related relationships. These then recyle over generations, past, present and future.
In many African, Asian and other ancestral indigenous communities, the individual is indivisible from the community. In Diaspora family life ancestral legacies, are passed down the generations as patterns of recurring relationships. Often they are the result of unresolved past traumas like slavery, colonisation or migration, that then shape the current family systemc causing conflict and disharmony.
